After graduating high school and serving in the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict Dr. Karr attended the University of Washington. There he attained a B.A. in Zoology and his DDS at the University School of Dentistry in 1980. Dr Karr has been in private practice in Granite Falls, WA for over 25 years, and is looking forward to many fulfilling years ahead.
In addition to his practice in the United States Dr. Karr has been providing dental care in Haiti for 20 years. The communities that receive his care are among the poorest in the world. Twice annually he travels with a hand full of people (many times a staff member or two) to serve these deserving people. Dr Karr’s strong desire to serve has taken him several times to the Philippines as well.
Increased need in other developing countries has necessitated the forming a non-profit corporation, Medical Relief International, with a colleague in order to develop a strategy to serve all that can be. Dr Karr is also president of the Board for Antilles International University of Haiti, a developmental board dedicated to the long term goal of establishing a Christian University in Haiti. In 2001 Dr Karr was selected as the Snohomish County Dental Society’s Humanitarian Dentist of the year, and in 2006 he was induced into the Dental Honor Society-Academy of Dentistry International.
Dr Karr is married to his wife of 34 years, Cheryl. They have three children; two daughters in graduate school and a son in his freshman year at college. Dr Karr’s eldest daughter Stacey graduated from Dental school in May of 2007, and joined his practice as a partner that same year.
